Chisholm Road Prison
Chisholm Road Prison is a maximum-security correctional facility developed to accommodate 1,248 prisoners within the Lara prison precinct and support Victoria’s future correctional capacity needs. Designed with a strong focus on community safety, the facility includes high-security infrastructure as well as health, education and recreation spaces.
Mulgrave Insulation was engaged to deliver pipe insulation and cladding across the project, including works to building services, AHU plantrooms, and the main centralised chiller and boiler plantrooms.
The scale of the project, combined with multiple concurrent work fronts and programme and logistical constraints, required a delivery approach built around planning, coordination and efficiency. Drawing on our experience delivering large-scale correctional projects, Mulgrave assembled a skilled project team and adopted an off-site prefabrication strategy to support smoother installation on site.
By prefabricating insulation and cladding components before site installation commenced, and manufacturing a large volume of metalwork through our dedicated factory team, Mulgrave was able to stay ahead of programme demands and support efficient delivery across 40 buildings and plantrooms.
This approach helped maintain quality and consistency across a large and complex site while enabling Mulgrave to work closely with the client to execute the full insulation and cladding scope to meet project specifications and schedule, delivering high-quality workmanship, strict safety and regulatory compliance, and on-time handover.
